New Mangalore port gets nod to build new oil berth

The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) is all set to strengthen the capacity of its crude/POL (petroleum, oil and lubricant) product handling facility, as the port has received approval from the Union Shipping Ministry to construct another POL berth at an estimated cost of Rs79 crore (US$17.78 million). Berth no. 13, which will be the new addition to the existing four berths for handling such cargoes, will have a handling capacity of 7.8 million tons per annum and will be completed in two years.
