Thai motorcycle sales jump 7%

Motorcycle sales in Thailand jumped 7% in 2008 as high oil prices last year and advancements in fuel-injection technology led consumers to switch from 4-wheelers to 2-wheelers, A.P. Honda Co. Ltd. Sales Director Teerapat Chivapong said. Impressive motorcycle sales growth in the first two quarters of 2008 was caused by an increase in farmersโ€™ disposable income, due to higher commodity prices and government subsidy via a grassroots stimulus program.
