Vopak announces Singapore expansion

Royal Vopak, which is headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, said it would expand storage capacity in Singapore to 2.6 million cubic meters (cbm). At its Penjuru terminal, the company will install two storage tanks or an additional 22,000 cbm of storage capacity for chemical products. At its Banyan terminal, an additional 23 tanks, equivalent to 320,000 cbm in extra storage, will raise the terminal’s total capacity to 850,000 cbm. The expansions are to be completed in 2008. A current project at Banyan also will provide the site 165,000 cbm of storage capacity for chemicals and biofuels. In addition to Penjuru and Banyan, the company operates two other chemical and oil products storage facilities in Singapore, located in Sebarok and in Sakra. The four terminals currently have an aggregate storage capacity of 1.9 million cbm. Vopak is the worlds largest independent tank terminal operator, specializing in the storage and handling of liquid and gaseous chemical and oil products. (May 21, 2007)
