Car bomb kills 24 at Pakistan gasoline station

Twenty-four people were killed in a car bomb explosion on March 8 at a compressed natural gas fuel station in eastern Pakistan in Faisalabad in what the police believe was an attack on Pakistan’s intelligence agency (ISI). More than 90 people were injured in the attack. The Pakistan Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Rana Arshad, a Faisalabad police official, said that it appeared that the attackers were hoping to destroy surrounding government buildings. No members of the intelligence agency were hurt. Military, police and intelligence facilities have come under frequent attack by militants. (March 9, 2011)
