ENEOS launches 0W-16 motor oil in North America

JX Nippon Oil & Energy USA Inc. said it will launch ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil, developed with the next generation technology of JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., on December 16 in the U.S.A. and Canada.

JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., a fully integrated petroleum products company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is Japan’s largest oil company.

Due to growing environmental concern, resulting in new fuel economy regulations, JX has set a corporate mission to take a leading role in helping reach improved goals through its products. Using advanced in-house research and technology, JX developed its new ultimate low viscosity motor oil, ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil, in conjunction with Japanese automakers.

ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil is formulated with 100% synthetic base oils and unique additive technology. ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil is a next generation motor oil with ultimate low viscosity, which can provide a maximum of 2% fuel savings over 0W-20 oils. ENEOS 0W-16 provides exceptional engine protection due to its superior anti-wear performance and oil film retention capacity delivered by its proprietary technology.

Japanese automakers have been using 0W-16 for their factory fills and service fills in Japan. JX Group manufactures and supplies 0W-16 oils officially certified by Japanese automakers for both their factories and dealerships.

“As technical requirements for oils are different depending on engine type, we ran tests with many types of engines to provide the best performance where 0W-16 is recommended. In addition, lower viscosity can cause lower lubricity,” said Hiroya Miyamoto, a senior manager at JX Nippon Oil & Energy USA Inc., who was formerly senior staff of the Lubricants Research Laboratory at JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp.

After full analysis, ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil was successfully developed. ENEOS 0W-16 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil has already launched in Japan and has been widely used for cars, including hybrid and ECO vehicles, where 0W-16 is specified.
