IMCD China announces leadership change with dual managing directors

IMCD Group, a prominent global distributor and formulator of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has unveiled a strategic organisational split in China. The company will now operate as two distinct entities: IMCD China and IMCD Sanrise. This move is designed to align with their future growth aspirations.

To spearhead these entities, IMCD has entrusted leadership roles to Nicky Huang and Will Wang, who will begin their roles as managing directors from January 1, 2024. Huang will oversee IMCD China, which encompasses sectors like Advanced Materials, Coatings & Construction, Food & Nutrition, Pharmaceuticals, and various functional departments. On the other hand, Wang will lead IMCD Sanrise, which will focus on Beauty & Personal and Home Care I&I, including the Sanrise business acquired in 2022.

Both directors will be reporting to Andreas Igerl, president of APAC. Their roles will be pivotal in driving the company’s strategic growth, aligning with APAC’s five-pillar strategy. This strategy emphasises expanding partnerships, commercial and operational excellence, potential mergers and acquisitions, talent development, and digital transformation.

With 16 years of experience in the industry, Huang expressed her gratitude and excitement about the new role, emphasising the execution of the five-pillar strategy. She brings 16 years of experience in commercial and senior management in leading international high-performance plastics manufacturers and distributors. She was the regional sales manager of North East Asia at A. Schulman before joining IMCD China in 2021 as director of Business Advanced Materials.

Wang, who has a rich background in procurement and commercial roles, highlighted the potential growth in the local personal care market and his eagerness to explore new growth avenues with the IMCD teams. He started his career in procurement and supply chain roles before moving to commercial positions. He spent 11 years at Clariant, with the last position as the head of Sales at Business Unit Masterbatches, before joining IMCD China as commercial director for Life Science in 2021.
