Timken buys Des-Case, boosts filtration solution range

The Timken Company, a global frontrunner in engineered bearings and industrial motion products, has announced its acquisition of Des-Case Corp. Des-Case, based in Nashville, Tennessee,U.S.A.-based firm specialises in the production of unique filtration products tailored for industrial lubricants. Established in 1983, Des-Case has catered to a diverse range of industrial sectors and is projected to generate revenues nearing USD40 million for 2023.

The Timken Company, based in North Canton, Ohio, U.S.A., with a legacy spanning over a century, specialises in engineered bearings and an expanding array of industrial motion products.

Christopher Coughlin, Timken’s executive vice president and president of Industrial Motion, remarked, “Des-Case stands out as a technical pioneer in filtration solutions, aligning perfectly with our automatic lubrication systems. Their innovative offerings not only enhance equipment reliability but also contribute to environmental sustainability and profitability. This acquisition, by introducing complementary products, paves the way for synergistic opportunities, encompassing cross-selling and potential global expansion.”

A significant portion of Des-Case’s product line, which includes filter elements, breathers, lubrication storage, condition monitoring, and filter systems, is consumable. These products, vital for boosting reliability, minimising downtime, and prolonging system lifespan, are frequently purchased through distributors that also stock Timken’s bearings and other items.

Des-Case, with a workforce of around 120, has manufacturing units in Tennessee and the Netherlands. The acquisition was financed by Timken through a blend of available cash and its ongoing revolving credit facility.
