Cambodia’s oil imports up to 748,044 tons

Data from Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce shows an increase of 68% in the country’s imports of refined oil products to 748,044 tons in the first half, from 445,120 tons in the same period of 2010. The cost of these imports also more than doubled, up 136%, to US$703.14 million, from US$298.38 million. Gasoil was the top import at 414,750 tons, with gasoline following at 170,750 tons and fuel oil at 106,469 tons. There are no refineries in Cambodia, so the country must import all its refined oil. Singapore and Thailand are the largest exporters of products to Cambodia. (July 28, 2011)
