CCE begins commercial operations at new biodiesel site

China Clean Energy has started commercial operations at its new Jiangyin biodiesel plant in the country’s Fujian province after successfully completing a trial production phase, the company said. The U.S.-listed biodiesel and chemicals maker said that the Jiangyin plant will raise its specialty chemicals capacity by 30,000 metric tons per year (MTPY) to 40,000 MTPY, and biodiesel capacity by 40,000 MTPY to 50,000 MTPY for a combined output of 90,000 MTPY. CCE already operates a 10,000 MTPY biodiesel plant in Fujian province. The Jiangyin plant is located 20 miles from this facility. The company expects revenues for the quarter to reach 50 million yuan (US$7.32 million), representing an increase of approximately 150% over the same period of last year. (January 11, 2010)
