China ships used cooking oil for conversion to aviation fuel

Fresh Bio-Energy Technology Development Company Ltd. sold 20 tons of used cooking oil to SkyBRG, a Dutch biofuel supplier. The oil will be converted into aviation fuel for Royal Dutch Airlines, which is part of the Air France-KLM SA group. Xinhua news agency reported that the Qingdao-based company produced the oil by combining waste or discarded cooking oil and fat. China is still in the early stages of a refining program aimed at producing large volumes of aviation biofuel. (March 27, 2012)
