Egco suspends waste-to-energy project in Phuket

Egco Group P.L.C. has suspended its waste-to-energy project in Phuket, Thailand, because of too many obstacles, Executive Vice President for Project Management Sakul Pochanart said. The main problem was the lack of coordination between energy developers and residents. As municipalities are responsible for waste management in their own areas using their own preferred methods, energy developers end up with waste that has gone through different processes. The varied conditions of the waste results in addedwaste management costs, Sakul said. (June 10, 2009)
