Explosion shuts down Dumai refinery

Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina was forced to shut down its 120,000 barrel per day Dumai refinery in Central Sumatra on September 27, following an explosion at a generator that powers its primary units. The closure would not affect plans to shut the crude distillation unit (CDU) for scheduled maintenance in October. “There is no change with our plan to carry out a regular maintenance in Dumai’s crude distillation unit in October this year,” Pertamina’s Processing Director Suroso Atmomartoyo said.
