Thanh Cong to open assembly plant for Hyundai cars

Hyundai cars will be assembled in Vietnam from late this year as the Korean automakers distributor Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam Auto Co. has finished construction of an auto factory and will commission it soon. The distributor, which is part of the Thanh Cong Group, said that the plant worth some US$80 million had been constructed at Gian Khau industrial park in Gia Vien District in the northern province of Ninh Binh. Nguyen Minh Phu, deputy general director of the company, said that the factory would be able to turn out 40,000 passenger cars and another 40,000 commercial vehicles a year. Apart from autos of Hyundai brand, the factory will also assemble other brands. (October 22, 2010)
