Shell China welcomes Sabrina Qu as new executive chairperson

Shell has announced the appointment of Sabrina Qu as the new executive chairperson of Shell Companies in China, effective from April 1, 2024.

Qu, who joined Shell in 2017 as general manager of Marketing for Shell Lubricants in the Greater China Region, has quickly ascended the ranks within the company. By 2021, she was appointed vice president of Shell Global Lubricants Marketing. Her contributions during these roles have been pivotal in enhancing both Shell China’s and the Global Lubricants’ business performance, particularly in the areas of sustainability development.

Before her tenure at Shell, Qu held several significant positions at PepsiCo in the Greater China Region, based in Shanghai, China, where she served as marketing director, senior director, and ultimately vice president of Marketing. Her extensive experience in strategic planning and business management at PepsiCo provided her with a solid foundation for her subsequent roles at Shell.

She started her marketing career at Procter & Gamble, commonly known as P&G, an American multinational consumer goods corporation recognised for its marketing prowess, as senior brand marketing manager, China Region & Global Marketing, from 1999 to 2005, in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

In her new role as executive chairperson, Qu aims to further cultivate a corporate culture at Shell China that emphasises diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her leadership is expected to empower Shell employees to fully leverage their talents, unlocking the full potential of both the business and the organisation.
