Shell introduces PANOLIN lubricants in the Middle East

Shell Markets Middle East Limited (Shell) has unveiled its plan to introduce PANOLIN, a range of biodegradable lubricants, to the Middle East market by early 2024. The announcement, made during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2023, on October 2-5, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, underscores Shell’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

PANOLIN lubricants are renowned for their high-performance lubrication and natural degradability. These lubricants are designed to minimise environmental impact, offering enhanced protection for ecosystems and wildlife. The introduction of PANOLIN in the Middle East is a strategic move to meet the increasing demand for sustainable products in various sectors, including construction, agriculture, and renewable power.

Haytham Yehia, general manager at Shell Markets Middle East and Central Asia, highlighted the global surge in demand for biodegradable lubricants. Industry forecasts project a compounded annual growth rate of 6.6% by 2032. PANOLIN’s introduction is aligned with the market’s shift towards renewables, offering a sustainable lubrication solution to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Shell acquired the PANOLIN Group’s Environmentally Considerate Lubricants (ECLs) business last year. Based in Madetswil, Switzerland, the PANOLIN Group is a pioneer in industrial ECL.The Swiss company has been owned and managed by the Lämmle family since 1949.
