Shell Lubricants launched Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W30, which was formulated with Shell GTL base oil, in Malaysia.

The new flagship product from the Shell Helix range also features Emissions Compatible Technology (ECT), which was developed to protect the emissions systems of the most modern diesel and gasoline engines.

Claimed by the company as its latest and most advanced product in the Helix Ultra range, with its patented “PurePlus Technology,” the new motor oil offers “superior performance and engine protection, achieving unsurpassed wear protection of four times’ better than the industry standard, setting a new record for Shell Helix.”

Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 also meets industry specifications and approvals from top-tier equipment manufacturers. It meets ACEA C2, ACEA C3 and API SN specifications. OEM approvals include VW504.00/507.00, MB 229.51, MB 229.31 and Fiat 955535.GS1. The product is also backward compatible with many OEM and industry specifications.

Speaking at the product launch in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 6, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd’s Lubricants General Manager (Malaysia & Singapore), Leslie Ng, said that the new Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W30 is the company’s “most advanced formulation to date.” Ng said that the new Helix Ultra was designed with multi-fuel capability and is suitable for use in the most advanced, low-emissions vehicles. These vehicles are normally powered by diesel engines with particulate filters, high-performance gasoline engines or gas, biodiesel and ethanol blend engines.

Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W30 also delivers up to 2.6% greater fuel economy or 16 kilometres more per tank, Ng said.
