Motul is expanding its hybrid range with the world’s first hybrid vehicle transmission fluid (DHT): Motul DHT e-ATF

Motul is expanding its product line for hybrid vehicles (HEV) and plug-in hybrids (P-HEV) with the new MOTUL DHT e-ATF fluid.

Always at the forefront of technology; pioneering in 2016 with the first range of engine lubricant for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Motul continues to innovate in the electrified vehicle (EV) segment.

MOTUL DHT e-ATF fluid is an intensive development to offer the best electrical insulation (electrical resistivity) of the market compared to a conventional ATF fluid usually used for HEV and P-HEV applications. In addition, it meets many specifications of automakers Toyota, Lexus, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, … ..


Protect the system and ensure its reliability over time

The gearbox of a hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicle is particularly complex because it incorporates two sources of propulsion: mechanical and electrical, which play a vital role in the overall energy efficiency of the vehicle.

MOTUL DHT e-ATF fluid has been developed to:

  • Protect both sources of propulsion
  • Guarantee energy efficiency by optimizing fuel consumption.

Protection is also at the heart of the formulation of this new product.

The additive package used in this 100% synthetic fluid helps to protect the mechanical and electrical components from corrosion. It also protects the metal parts from wear due to its resistance to high pressures.

Finally, its high electrical resistivity makes it possible to improve the safety of occupants in daily use and during maintenance operations of the vehicle.

Increase the overall efficiency of the system to improve energy efficiency

The MOTUL DHT e-ATF is a specific fluid intended for the transmissions of which one of the sources of propulsion is electric.

Unlike the conventional fluid used in a gearbox whose only source of propulsion is mechanical, MOTUL DHT e-ATF fluid integrates into its formulation components allowing to bring an electrical resistivity (insulation) in order to avoid any energetic dissipation via the fluid.

The electrical resistivity is essential for a DHT fluid as it guarantees the overall energy efficiency of the hybrid vehicle.

The improvement of the yield also goes through a suitable viscosity.

MOTUL DHT e-ATF fluid meets JASO 1A – LV (low viscosity / low viscosity) specifications to facilitate the movement of mechanical parts together; thus reducing fuel consumption to increase its autonomy . Plus, it meets many specifications from Toyota, Lexus, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW and Volkswagen automakers and surpasses all conventional ATF fluids used in HEV and P-HEV applications.
