FUCHS Group expands its presence in Africa with strategic name change

In a significant move to reflect its expanding footprint across the continent, FUCHS Group has announced the renaming of FUCHS SOUTHERN AFRICA to FUCHS AFRICA, effective from April 1, 2024. This change underscores the company’s commitment to growth and development beyond Southern Africa, embracing a broader regional responsibility across 37 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Paul Deppe, managing director of FUCHS LUBRICANTS SOUTH AFRICA, emphasised the importance of this name change. “Our local activities continue to be performed through FUCHS LUBRICANTS SOUTH AFRICA,” he stated. However, “It is important to change the name of the company to move away from the perception that we just serve Southern Africa,” Deppe said.

“FUCHS AFRICA is far more relevant to describe the footprint for which we take business ownership and responsibility.”

The company sees the export market in Africa as an avenue for growth, with FUCHS signing up new distributors to grow its footprint on the continent.

Upcoming product launches include calcium sulfonate greases to mitigate the rising cost of lithium used in lithium greases, and new offerings for agricultural machinery, reflecting FUCHS’ diversification into a range of markets.

FUCHS Group has a long-standing history in Africa, with its presence dating back to the establishment of FUCHS LUBRICANTS SOUTH AFRICA. Over the years, the company has significantly expanded its operations, not only in South Africa but also across the Sub-Saharan region. This name change to FUCHS AFRICA is a strategic step to better represent the company’s broadened scope and its dedication to serving the diverse needs of the African market.

With the responsibility to grow the FUCHS business in all 37 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, FUCHS AFRICA is poised to further strengthen its position as a leading lubricant provider on the continent. This move aligns with the company’s global strategy to enhance its presence in key markets and to continue delivering high-quality products and services to its customers across Africa.
