Ghana Oil Company appoints Adzew chief operating officer
Alex Josiah Adzew has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL), as chief operating officer, effective Oct. 1, 2016. Until this appointment, Adzew was the company’s fuel marketing manager. GOIL is the leading indigenous oil marketing company in Ghana.
Adzew brings to this new position hands-on field knowledge and managerial competence required to drive GOIL to the next phase of its business. A mechanical engineer by education, Adzew, joined Ghana Oil Company Limited in 1992, initially as a sales engineer. Since then, he has served in various capacities, including as senior sales engineer/special assistant to the area manager for the Western Region; lubricants marketing manager, with additional responsibilities for the LPG, bunkering and aviation business; department head of technical and special products, until his appointment as fuels marketing manager in January 2013. In his last position, he played a key role in GOIL’s successful rebranding campaign and retail network expansion programme.
Adzew has a First Class BSc (Hons) Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (1990) and an Executive Master of Business Administration (Money and Banking) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
