BASF Fuel & Lubricant Solutions appoints Claus Jacobs EMEA VP

BASF announced the appointment of Claus Jacobs as vice president, Regional Business Management, Fuel & Lubricant Solutions, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) effective February 1, 2021. Jacobs succeeds Dr. Julia Frey, who assumes a new responsibility as vice president, Digital Business Empowerment for BASF.

Jacobs was born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany, in 1978. He graduated from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, with a diploma in Industrial Engineering and Management, majoring in Corporate Planning. His studies in International Business and Brand Management were conducted at the University of Lund, Sweden. 

In 2004, he started his professional career at BASF as a supply chain manager, Butanediol, based in Ludwigshafen. In 2006, he was appointed global strategic marketing manager, Butanediol. In 2010, he became head of BASFโ€™s Global Marketing water Solutions, based in Bradford, UK. In 2011, he moved back to Ludwigshafen.

In 2013, Jacobs became head of Refinery Industry Business Management Europe, Fuel and Lubricant Solutions, based in Ludwigshafen. In 2016, he relocated to Hong Kong, where he was vice director of the Formulations Business for Asia Pacific, Fuel and Lubricant Solutions, BASF South East Asia Pte. Ltd. In 2020, he returned to Ludwigshafen, where he was appointed director of  Global Strategic Marketing and Product Development, Fuel and Lubricant Solutions.
