Intertek partners with Thailand Automotive Institute on testing
Intertek, a leading quality assurance provider, has forged an alliance with Thailand’s automotive research body, the Thailand Automotive Institute (TAI), to heighten testing capabilities supporting electric vehicle and auto parts development locally.
Under a memorandum of understanding inked on January 16 in Samut Prakan, the partners aim to jointly augment lab facilities, offer training programs and organise academic activities that spur innovation for Thailand’s critical car manufacturing sector.
Intertek Thailand’s Managing Director Yip Yew Joe hailed the timely agreement’s potential to position Thailand as a regional hub in this space through shared automotive excellence. Thailand Automotive Institute oversees an extensive vehicle testing centre in the country.
Collaboration will leverage Intertek’s worldwide quality assurance expertise across more than 1,000 labs with TAI’s localised auto R&D strengths. Initiatives target solutions meeting Thai industrial standards that help local suppliers deliver components safely and sustainably.
An inaugural site tour facilitated vital knowledge exchange around the latest testing norms and processes for EVs and parts. Ongoing open dialogue can enable both organisations to better support the national auto strategy.
Early efforts centre on empowering domestic entrepreneurs to navigate quality expectations amid the sector’s rapid transformation. Intertek brings more than three decades’ experience ensuring precision assurance across Southeast Asian sectors from its Thailand facilities.
