BMW to boost investment in India

Germany’s BMW AG has said that it will increase its investments in India to Rs.1.8 billion (US$40.05 million) by end of 2012. BMW, which commenced its Indian operations by setting up a production plant near Chennai in March 2007, has invested close to Rs1.1 billion (US$24.48 million). The luxury carmaker’s Chennai facility has the capacity to produce 5,400 units per year on a single shift basis. It employs about 400 people. (November 26, 2010)
