Desmet to take on ethanol, biomass plants

Desmet Ballestra, a Belgian engineering company, will build ethanol and biomass power plants as biodiesel jobs are starting to slow down all over the world. “So far, we’ve signed 85 biodiesel plants with a combined capacity of 10 million tons and we’ve handed over about 30 units,” said Desmet Ballestra Chief Executive Officer Marc D’Udekem d’Acoz. “We’re in the process of acquiring technology to design and build biomass power plants and ethanol plants. These will be additional income streams as we’ve received enquiries from Thailand and the Philippines,” he said. (July 8, 2010)
