Indian oil marketers resist biodiesel blending

India’s Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah, said that despite the presence of production facilities with capacities of up to 3,470 tons of biodiesel a day, India’s oil marketing firms had not purchased biodiesel for blending with diesel over the past three years. He added that within the last three years, four biodiesel plants were opened by private firms with a combined daily output of 1,750 tons. The plants are located in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. (March 27, 2012)
