Mexico to announce fuel efficiency standards

Mexico’s Energy Minister Georgina Kessel announced that the government would soon declare minimum fuel-economy standards for new cars and heavy trucks. The new standards will set the fuel-efficiency standards based on the categories of “light” and “medium” for cars, and “heavy” for trucks. They will also be designed to discourage imports of gasoline-guzzling used cars from the U.S. (September 29, 2010)
