Thailand’s Agriculture Ministry forms global-warming panel

Thai Agriculture Minister Theera Wongsamut revealed that the ministry has resolved to set up a subcommittee to develop strategies and operational plans in an effort to address the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector. The panel is made up of representatives from related agencies and is being chaired by the ministry’s Deputy Permanent-Secretary, Supatra Thanaseneewat. The plans will correspond with the national master plan on climate change management for 2008 to 2012 and will also include plans for the development of negotiation framework and guidelines for approving ministerial projects in relation to climate change.
