Vietnam’s Dung Quat refinery resumes operations

Dung Quat, Vietnam’s first oil refinery located in the central province of Quang Ngai, resumed full production three days ahead of its mid-September schedule. Most of the production workshops in the refinery are running at 70% capacity. Last July 15, the 130,000 barrel-a-day refinery was shut down for scheduled maintenance. Over 4,000 engineers, experts and workers from more than 100 local and foreign contractors and equipment suppliers joined forces during the two- month maintenance of the US$3.054 billion plant. The refinery is expected to supply the country with 5.187 million tons of products this year and profits are expect to reach VND550 billion (US$26.2 million). (September 7, 2011)
