Olin Corporation names new CEO Kenneth Lane

Olin Corporation, based in Clayton, Missouri, U.S.A., announced Kenneth Lane will become president, CEO and board member effective March 18th, replacing current CEO Scott Sutton who is stepping down from those roles after facilitating an orderly transition.

Lane was LyondellBasell’s EVP of Global Olefins and Polyolefins bringing over 30 years of chemicals industry experience at leading multinationals. Olin cited his proven record delivering results and driving growth. The board appointed current director William Weideman as chairman.

“Ken has demonstrated leadership across commodities and specialties that can leverage Olin’s platform,” said Weideman. Lane said he looks forward to realizing Olin’s potential by building on strengths like manufacturing excellence and talent.

Sutton departed the board alongside the CEO change. He will assist Lane in assuming leadership responsibilities until mid-March.

Prior to joining LyondellBasell in 2019, Lane was with BASF for 13 years where he held senior executive leadership positions across a diverse array of businesses including Polyurethanes, Monomers and Catalysts. Prior to joining BASF, he served in a variety of operations, strategy and commercial positions at BP Chemicals as well as various technical and operations roles at Amoco Chemical Corporation.

Lane has extensive international experience having worked in the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, China and Belgium.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Clemson University and a Master of Science in management from the University of Alabama Huntsville.
