Blue Tide completes phase one of Texas used oil recycling facility

Blue Tide Environmental, a used motor oil recycling company backed by Tailwater Capital, announced the completion of initial construction on its Baytown, Texas, U.S.A. used oil re-refinery.

The first 4,500 barrel-per-day phase processes 5,000 barrels of used lubricating oil into vacuum gasoil and other co-products. Further hydrotreating capacity launching in the second quarter of 2024 will upgrade output to produce 5,000 barrels per day of Group II base oils.

“This cutting-edge sustainable facility coming online marks a pivotal milestone showcasing our commitment to producing top-tier recycled base oils,” said CEO Mark Bouldin.

Tailwater Partner David Cecere added that the used oil re-refinery project progresses solutions that drive positive energy sector change. The recycled and reprocessed base oils also carry a lower carbon footprint than virgin base oils.

Founded in 2021 and based in Plano, Texas, U.S.A., Blue Tide combines technical expertise with advanced hydroprocessing to recycle used oils. Its products offer a sustainable choice for those seeking to lower their product carbon footprint.

Dallas-based Tailwater Capital is an energy-focused private equity firm with more than USD4.5 billion raised. Since inception, Tailwater has executed 100+ deals representing USD23 billion+ in value, working constructively to deliver solutions.
