Former BP executive is new CEO of Gulf Oil International

Gulf Oil International Group announced the appointment of Mike Jones as chief executive officer of Gulf Oil International UK Limited, effective 27 January 2020. Jones will be reporting to the Board of Gulf Oil International Ltd and will be based in London, UK.

Gulf is part of the Hinduja Group,  one of the largest diversified business groups in the world, based in Mumbai, India.

Jones brings to the Gulf family 30 years of professional experience, including 18 years with BP plc in leadership roles. A graduate from the University of Leeds in 1988, Jones began his career at BP in April 2000. His most recent role at BP plc was global vice president, Strategic Partnerships, where he led a diverse global team responsible for partnership development and growth across all of BP’s core businesses with high value partners including global automotive OEMs and multinational engineering and technology companies. 

In addition, Jones also led developments of inorganic growth options for BP,  supporting new revenue streams including new acquisitions and joint ventures in Europe, Africa and China. 

Jones has also held leadership roles in marketing. As Castrol’s global marketing director, he led the development and implementation of competitive brands, products and offering strategies in both the automotive and industrial businesses.
