Rob Shama joins XG Industries as chairman of the board

XG Industries, a privately owned company based in Stratford, Connecticut, U.S.A., announced that Robert (Rob) A. Shama has taken on the role of chairman effective July 1, 2021.

XG Industries develops and manufactures friction modifier additives that are ashless, sulfur and phosphorous free. XG’s current product portfolio includes additives specifically optimized for greases, industrial lubricants, engine oils and metalworking fluids.

Shama, who has 38 years of sales, marketing, strategy and executive management experience in the lubricant industry, retired from Afton Chemical on December 31, 2018, after serving as its  president for six years. Afton Chemical is among the top four global manufacturer of fuel and lubricant additives based in Richmond, Virginia, U.S.A.

“I am very impressed with XG’s market disruptive technology, their state-of-the-art lab and factory and their team. I can’t think of a better time to bring new technology to the market than right now given the disarray in the supply chain,” Shama said.

“We are thrilled to have Rob join our team as chairman. He offers invaluable insight into the entire lubricants value chain and has an enviable track record of launching exciting new products built on unique and valuable technology. We are confident that Rob’s experience will help us accelerate the adoption of our potent, durable, and cost-effective ashless friction modifiers,” said Mark Simonetti, CEO of XG Industries.
