GM Daewoo to produce Chevrolet Orlando in Gunsan plant

GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. said it will start making the Chevrolet Orlando sport-utility vehicle (SUV) at its Gunsan plant in South Korea from October. GM Daewoo, the South Korean unit of General Motors Corp., said it plans to export the Orlando to European markets in early 2011, after which it plans to launch it in South Korea and other markets. The Gunsan plant will be the first GM plant globally to start making the Orlando, the company said. GM Daewoo did not provide the planned production volume or the price for the seven-seater SUV. The crossover vehicle, with a 1.8-liter gasoline model and a 2.0-liter diesel model, will be based on the platform of the Chevrolet Cruze, which is being sold as the Lacetti Premiere compact sedan in Korea.
